How would you like explore the history and culture of China or Italy next year, while still earning college credit at Lone Star College-CyFair? Get all the information, including financial aid and scholarships, at one of three October information sessions.
LSC-CyFair offers two Study Abroad choices through “Learning Communities” which not only enhance the college experience, but transcripts and resumes as well.
In May 2009, Professor Carolyn Ho will teach her Beginning Chinese I class with Professor Robert O’Brien’s World History I class at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China. With this study abroad opportunity, students will get the rare opportunity to experience the day-to-day life of the Chinese as well as fly to Beijing and visit some of the most famous sites such as Tiananmen Square and the Great Wall.
In June 2009, Professor Rob Coyle will teach his History of Western Civilization I class with Professor Buck Buchanan’s World Geography class at the Vesuvian Institute of the Restoring Ancient Stabiae Foundation in Castellammare di Stabia, Italy and Rome. With this study abroad opportunity, students will be exploring ancient Roman culture and Europe’s most famous volcanoes.
Two “come and go” information sessions will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m., Oct. 16 and from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Oct. 21 in the Technology Building, room 104 A, at the Barker Cypress campus, 9191 Barker Cypress.
A third “come and go” information session will be from 1:30 p.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 17 in room 111 at LSC-Fairbanks Center, 14955 Northwest Freeway.
Study Abroad is a once-in-a-lifetime program that maximizes a student’s time abroad while minimizing the cost. Financial aid and scholarships are available. The scholarship deadline is Nov. 14, 2008. The deadline for applying to either program is March 1, 2009.
