ESL Outreach
These programs are for individuals 18 years of age and over who have a native language other than English. All classes are held in room 102 next to the Cyber Café in the Lone Star College-CyFair branch library.
We offer two programs:
ESL classes require registration before class begins. Students in these classes usually work with a free textbook to improve their reading, writing, listening and speaking skills.
Talk Time focuses on listening and speaking. Each session is designed to encourage students to become more confident about speaking English. No registration is required and students may attend one or all of the sessions offered if space allows.
Fall 2008 - Free Classes in the Library
We offer different opportunities to learn English in the library for individuals 18 years of age or over who have a native language other than English:
General English Classes - Levels 1 and 2
These classes generally meet once a week for 1.5 hours throughout the fall semester. The focus is on grammar, reading, listening and speaking. Classes begin the 3rd week of September. Students must register.
Learn More About America
This 7-week class covers the history, government, and geography of the United States. This class is on Tuesdays 1:00 p.m. - 2:00 p.m., beginning the 3rd week in September. Students must register.
Talk Time
The focus in Talk Time sessions is practicing speaking in a relaxed atmosphere. Each class is 1 hour long. Talk Time begins the 2nd week of September in LRNC 102 next to the CyberCafe. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
Book Club
The book club is for intermediate-advanced non-native speakers who would like to discuss a book. The club will meet the first Tuesday of each month at 3:00 p.m. in LRNC 102 next to the CyberCafe in the library. NO REGISTRATION REQUIRED.
